Writing content for Turas

This design system is for anyone who writes content for Turas products or NES websites. It should be used to help us write efficient and consistent content, that meets the needs of our audience.

Broadly, with all content, we should:

  • follow the best practice guidance, included in this guide
  • help people to understand our work and access our products by using simple and clear language
  • avoid jargon, write in plain English wherever possible
  • write positively, use positive instead of negative language

This guide contains advice and information on some of the key elements required for good content.

Legal requirements

On 23 September 2018, new accessibility regulations for public sector organisations came into force in the UK.

The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

These regulations mean all public sector websites and mobile applications must meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA accessibility standards.
