User research

Understand Turas users

User experience (UX) research is the study of users and their requirements. It is a critical part of the UX design process. To design truly user-centred products you must carry out user research. It is essential to carry out this research with real users of the product.

We look at both attitudinal and behavioural research, using a variety of methods, including:

  • usability studies
  • contextual inquiry
  • A/B testing
  • analytics
  • online surveys
  • interviews
  • workshops
  • card sorting

Qualitative and quantitative research

UX research can be split into qualitative or quantitative subsets.

Qualitative

  • subjective
  • small sample sizes
  • requires hands-on facilitation
  • user behaviours and attitudes are gathered directly

Quantitative

  • objective
  • larger sample sizes
  • can be run in a more hands-off manner
  • user behaviours and attitudes are gathered indirectly
